Grand-Yoff : Démantèlement d’une bande spécialisée dans le vol de batteries de véhicules
On January 24, 2026, the Grand-Yoff district police station dismantled a gang of vehicle battery thieves operating in several neighborhoods of the municipality. Three individuals were arrested following an operation conducted based on operational intelligence gathered by investigators.
The alleged ringleader was arrested at his home in the Makka II neighborhood. A search of the premises uncovered two car batteries hidden under his bed. Further investigation led to the arrest of his two accomplices, identified as active members of the network.
According to the investigation, the suspects admit to having committed numerous robberies in recent months. They generally operated between 4:00 and 6:00 a.m., taking advantage of the low traffic on the streets. For transportation and escape, they used an SH brand motorcycle, allowing them to move quickly from one neighborhood to another.
At this stage of the proceedings, seven victims have been formally identified and interviewed by the police. The three suspects have been taken into custody, while the investigation continues to identify any potential receivers of stolen goods and to determine the full extent of the network.
