Grand-Yoff : 2 agresseurs interpellés après avoir violemment dépouillé des victimes au couteau
Two weeks after a violent attack on New Year's Eve at the HLM Grand Yoff roundabout, police have apprehended the suspected perpetrators. The suspects, armed with knives, robbed their victims of their motorcycle and belongings.
On the night of December 31, 2025, while New Year's Eve celebrations were in full swing, A. Dione and I. Ngom were victims of a violent attack at the HLM Grand Yoff roundabout. According to their statements given at the Grand-Yoff district police station on January 1, 2026, the two men were attacked by a group of young men armed with knives.
The perpetrators, particularly determined, forcibly stole their motorcycle. The damage didn't stop there: the assailants also seized a bag containing 85,000 CFA francs and an iPhone 11 mobile phone, according to Seneweb sources.
After committing their crime, the perpetrators fled towards the Scat Urbam district, leaving their victims in shock from this stealthy attack.
A meticulous investigation that was crowned with success
The investigation conducted by officers from the Grand-Yoff district police station, in close collaboration with the victims, allowed the case to progress rapidly. Investigators were able to locate the stolen motorcycle on Thursday, January 15, 2026, two weeks after the theft, in an area corresponding to the neighborhood where the suspects live.
A stakeout was set up by law enforcement. This discreet surveillance paid off when Mr. Léye was caught trying to start the stolen motorcycle. Arrested on the spot, the suspect had no choice but to confess.
Under pressure from investigators, Mr. Leye led the police to the home of his accomplice, who was also arrested without resistance.
The two individuals involved are identified as follows:
Mr. Léye, aged 23, a delivery driver by profession,
F. Thiam, aged 26, boxer.
The seized motorcycle was impounded at the police station pending its return to the rightful owner at the end of the investigation.
The two suspected assailants were taken into custody for assault followed by robbery. The investigation is ongoing.
