Guédiawaye : le commissaire met en garde les élèves, « éloignez-vous surtout de... »
The solemn flag-raising ceremony at the Seydina Limamou Laye High School in Guédiawaye served as a platform this Friday for a warning message addressed to young people. Speaking to the students, Central Commissioner Daouda Bodian cautioned against drug use in schools, which he considers a factor in violence, family breakdown, and academic failure.
In a firm address, he urged the students to distance themselves from "all forms of depravity," particularly narcotics, which he described as a source of misery for communities and an obstacle to the future of young people. The police official also emphasized the need to reject violence in all its forms in order to safeguard their educational path. "Above all, firmly distance yourselves from drugs, which are a source of misery in our communities, violence in families and on the streets, and school dropout," he stressed, as reported by Walfadjri.
Beyond this warning, the commissioner called on students to adopt civic behavior on a daily basis, reminding them that simple actions, such as respecting the cleanliness of public spaces, contribute to collective well-being and the building of a "model citizen".
The initiative was warmly welcomed by the school administration. The school's headmaster, Diewo Kao Seck, quoted by the same source, appreciated the statement and expressed her satisfaction with the progress of the school's construction. However, she voiced her concerns about the chronic disruptions to the education system, which, she emphasized, "sometimes upset the students."
