During the night of February 14-15, 2026, at 00:53, the elements of the HLM5 district police station alerted the Accident Section of the Traffic Company of the central police station in Dakar of a traffic accident with material damage involving a driver in a state of drunkenness, according to Seneweb sources.
The accident occurred on Rue 18X07 Biscuiterie. The suspect, Mr. Diop, born in 1971 in Kébémer, a driver residing in Bène Tally, was taken to the police station.
He was given a breathalyzer test with his consent, and the result came back positive, according to Seneweb sources.
Vehicle 1: Private vehicle driven by K. Coulibaly, holder of a driver's license. Damage observed: front left door dented and jammed.
Vehicle 2: Renault van, driven by Mr. Diop, holder of a driver's license. Damage: none.
The circumstances of the accident
Mr. Diop was driving on Rue 18 Biscuiterie, coming from Niarry Tally towards the Ngalaw Market. Upon reaching the intersection with Rue 07 Bis, he lost control due to alcohol and collided with the vehicle parked on the right side of the road.
An investigation has been opened. The suspect has been placed in a sobering-up cell and will be taken into custody for driving under the influence of alcohol resulting in an accident with property damage. The Public Prosecutor will be notified.
