Il se fait passer pour un policier pendant deux ans... pour dérober 1,5 million CFA à son ami !

On October 24, 2025, police officers from the Parcelles-Assainies district police station arrested Mr. Gueye, 43, a merchant. He is accused of impersonating a person and stealing from a friend.

A two-year friendship based on lies

The story begins two years ago, when A. Bangoura met Mr. Guèye through a mutual friend. The two men met regularly and developed a relationship of trust. Throughout their friendship, Mr. Guèye claimed to be a police officer working at the Grand Dakar police station. This false professional identity would allow him to gain the complete trust of his future victim.

In October 2024, Bangoura asked Guèye to accompany him to Guédiawaye to collect money. Once there, the complainant got his hands on a large sum: 1,500,000 CFA francs.

This is when the alleged conman uses his influence. Claiming to be a police officer, he convinces his friend to put the money in the trunk of his motorcycle "as a precaution." A. Bangoura, confident, complies without suspicion.

The two men set off toward Patte d'Oie. Arriving at their destination, A. Bangoura got off the motorcycle and asked for his money back. But Mr. Guèye pretended to be receiving a phone call. He asked his friend to wait a few moments, claiming he needed to quickly meet someone nearby.

The wait begins. A wait that will last five long hours, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. When Mr. Guèye finally returns, he makes a surprising statement: he has apparently deposited the money in a bank for safety. He promises to withdraw it the next day and return it to its owner.

Days passed, then weeks. Three months passed before Mr. Guèye deigned to give any sign of life. He then gave A. Bangoura a deposit of 800,000 CFA francs, a little more than half the initial sum.

As for the remaining 700,000 CFA francs, there was no further news. The alleged fraudster simply disappeared, even changing his address to avoid being found. It was then that A. Bangoura realized he had been the victim of a scam and decided to file a complaint.

Arrested by the police, Mr. Guèye formally denies the accusations. According to him, A. Bangoura voluntarily gave him the money for safekeeping. He admits to having spent part of this sum on his personal needs. However, he categorically denies having impersonated a police officer, according to Seneweb sources.

Following his interrogation, Mr. Guèye was taken into custody at the Parcelles-Assainies police station for impersonation and theft. The public prosecutor's office was informed of the case and an investigation was opened to shed light on the matter.
