Gendarmerie forces conducted a large-scale enforcement operation last Sunday in Vélingara, targeting establishments selling alcoholic beverages. This coordinated operation resulted in several arrests and a significant seizure.
A large-scale operation
The operation was carried out jointly by the Vélingara territorial brigade, reinforced by the Kounkane Surveillance and Intervention Squadron (ESIK).
Five arrests for illegal exploitation
At the end of this inspection operation, five people were arrested for operating alcoholic beverage outlets without the required administrative permits. Among the suspects arrested, four were women, revealing a strong female involvement in this type of illegal trade according to Seneweb sources.
A significant seizure
Men under the command of Commander Tidiane Senghor seized 345 liters of alcoholic beverages. This significant quantity demonstrates the scale of the illegal commercial activities carried out by the establishments under inspection.
Referral to the Kolda court
Following the preliminary investigation, the five suspects were brought before the Kolda High Court, where they will face charges of illegally operating alcoholic beverage outlets.
