Impliqués dans l’attaque de l’hôtel Riu Baobab : 5 braqueurs armés arrêtés par la BR de Saly
The hunt for criminals continues relentlessly on the Petite Côte. In accordance with instructions from the High Command of the National Gendarmerie, the Thiès Legion has strengthened its security measures in this highly touristic area. It is in this context that the Saly Research Brigade (BR) carried out a major raid on September 13, 2025, by arresting five dangerous bandits, who were actively sought and linked to several robberies: S. Sow (22 years old), a so-called driver living in Nguékokh; M. Ba (25 years old), a shepherd living in Bandia; A. Sow, born in 1999 and living in Bandia; M. Sow (20 years old), a shepherd living in Sindia, and AA Sow (born in 2008), a shepherd also living in Bandia.
All five were wanted for their alleged involvement in several armed robberies, including the spectacular robberies at the Riu Baobab hotel and a farm in Somone.
A decisive joint operation
Their arrest was the result of a major security operation conducted jointly with the Popenguine territorial brigade and the Mbour surveillance and intervention squadron (ESI). A total of 18 people were arrested that day, 13 of whom were handed over to the Popenguine brigade.
The five suspects being sought were located in Sindia, in a building under construction hidden in the tall grass. The police surprised them at dawn, armed with knives and machetes.
According to Seneweb sources close to the court, these criminals were also involved in several attacks targeting motorcyclists on the Thiès-Sindia road. They operated at night, armed, in groups, and with means of transport designed to disappear quickly.
Prosecuted for criminal conspiracy, gang robbery committed at night with violence, use of weapons and means of transport, the five suspects were brought before the Mbour High Court this Wednesday, at the end of the BR investigation.
