Inédit à Diamaguène : comment un plaignant a poignardé un policier venu l’aider
A police officer from the investigation unit of the Diamaguène Sicap-Mbao district police station, under the command of Commissioner Cheikh Tidiane Diallo, was stabbed while on duty, according to exclusive information obtained by Seneweb. Paradoxically, it was not the suspect he had just arrested who committed this violent act, but the complainant himself, who in an instant went from being the victim to the accused.
A fraud complaint is at the origin of the case
It all began when CT CISSÉ, a 36-year-old shopkeeper, went to the Diamaguène Sicap-Mbao district police station to request assistance. He had previously filed a complaint with the prosecutor's office against a mechanic, N. DIOP, a 34-year-old man, for fraud involving three million CFA francs. During his interview, the complainant told investigators that the suspect was in the public square of the La Rochette neighborhood.
Acting on a warrant issued by Prosecutor Saliou Dicko, head of the Pikine-Guédiawaye prosecutor's office, officers from the investigation unit went to the scene accompanied by businessman CT Cissé. The suspected fraudster, N. Diop, was apprehended without incident.
However, against all expectations, the complainant suddenly jumped on the already subdued suspect and, in a rare act of violence, stabbed Officer MD in the right thigh. The trader was immediately arrested on the spot.
A plaintiff who became a defendant
Evacuated to hospital to receive the necessary care, agent MD has a medical certificate attesting to a temporary incapacity for work of 21 days.
For his part, the shopkeeper CT CISSÉ, questioned under oath, expressed regret for his actions. He explained that he wanted to get revenge on the mechanic who had defrauded him of three million CFA francs, specifying that the stabbing of the police officer was an unfortunate accident and that the latter was in no way his intended target.
The two accused were brought before the court.
Following their detention, the two men were brought before the Pikine-Guédiawaye High Court. Mechanic N. Diop will face charges of fraud, while shopkeeper CT Cissé will answer to charges of assault and battery resulting in a 21-day period of temporary incapacity for work. This case starkly illustrates the dangers faced by law enforcement officers in the daily performance of their duties.
