Vol iPhone 11 : Un jeune homme condamné après avoir été piégé par une montre
C. Diop was tried by the Thiès court for the theft of an iPhone 11, a sum of 20,000 CFA francs and a watch from his cousin, Mr. Preira.
In court, the plaintiff explained that it was the watch that led to the defendant's arrest. "When I noticed the disappearance of my phone, my watch, and my money, I immediately suspected C. Diop. I later found him in possession of my watch. When he saw me, he tried to hide it," he recounted in court.
C. Diop denied stealing the phone and the money. Regarding the watch, he claimed it had been given to him by his older sister, Sanou. His sister refuted this, stating that she had never given him the gift and had filed a complaint against her brother, believing her honor had been damaged.
The public prosecutor requested that the facts be reclassified as receiving stolen goods and that the law be applied.
Following these requests, the judge declared C. Diop guilty and sentenced him to two months in prison with a suspended sentence and to pay 170,000 CFA francs to the civil party as compensation.
