« Je voulais juste ... » : un père de famille vole un Iphone et finit en prison
In Mbour, a father named O. Sène was sentenced to six months in prison for stealing a young woman's cell phone.
Pretending his own device was malfunctioning and simulating an emergency call, he asked the victim for help in making a phone call. Taking advantage of a moment of inattention, he then ran off with the iPhone before selling it on the city's black market for 35,000 CFA francs, L'Observateur reports.
Before the Mbour District Court, the same source continues, O. Sène admitted the facts, explaining that he acted out of desperation to be able to pay his son's school fees. Quickly found by the police, the phone was returned to its owner, who did not claim damages. Far from being moved, the prosecutor had requested the application of the law. Found guilty, the father was placed in custody - a fate that will prevent him from seeing his son return to school.
