Journée Internationale pour la Paix : Le plaidoyer fort des femmes pour la paix définitive en Casamance
The International Day of Peace was celebrated in Ziguinchor. In 2025, this day was marked by a particularity, said the president of the Women's Platform for Peace in Casamance, Ndeye Marie Thiam Diédhiou. The day coincided with the celebration of the 25th anniversary of United Nations Security Council Resolution 13-25.
The women of the Casamance Peace Platform launched, on this occasion, a strong plea for lasting peace in this area. "We call on the entire community, the State of Senegal first and foremost, institutions, civil society organizations, technical and financial partners to act with us for lasting peace," insisted Ndeye Marie Thiam Diédhiou.
"We would rather like to move towards a definitive peace with the signing of peace agreements, with the relocation of people throughout our Casamance territory, so that people can come and go freely, so that schools, basic infrastructure, schools, health centers are occupied and people can feel at home here in Casamance," added the president of the PFFPC.
These women also called for the release of the soldier who has been in the hands of MFDC fighters for five months. Ndeye Marie Thiam Diédhiou said she hopes that the government and MFDC fighters will agree on clear points and find common ground so that this soldier can regain his freedom.
