Kafountine : Saisie de 153 kg de chanvre indien par la gendarmerie, le trafiquant s’échappe
On the night of Wednesday, August 27, 2025, the Kafountine gendarmerie brigade, under the command of Chief Warrant Officer Coly Ngom, seized 153 kg of Indian hemp at the entrance to the commune, near Kafountine high school, in the Bignona department. This operation is part of the efforts of the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) to combat drug trafficking throughout Senegal.
According to our sources, the gendarmes had set up a checkpoint when an individual, suspected of being a trafficker, riding a tricycle, fled during a routine check. Despite a chase, he managed to escape, abandoning the drug shipment on the spot. The 153 kg of seized Indian hemp were secured and transferred to the relevant authorities.
An investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the fugitive. The Kafountine gendarmerie is intensifying its efforts to stem drug trafficking and protect the population from drug-related dangers, according to an official source.
