Kaolack : Un atelier sur les activités de l'agropole Centre organisé autour du préfet de Nioro
The workshop for sharing and exchanging information on the activities of the Central Agropole was held today in Kaolack. Chaired by the Prefect of Nioro, Ibrahima Fall, it was attended by other prefects and stakeholders. The objective is to contribute to improving the living conditions of the population, particularly young people and women, through the creation of added value on agricultural products and the sustainable increase in productivity of priority agro-industrial sectors.
According to the agropole coordinator, Babou Dramé, this is a "large-scale project that aims to promote territorial equity and transform the Central region into an agro-industrial processing zone. It essentially involves managing the processing of local products to increase added value. This is expected to generate over 129,000 jobs. This will be achieved through improved production and productivity, particularly in the selected sectors of peanuts, cereals, and salt, with the goal of reversing the trade imbalance and enabling exports, reducing imports, and ultimately improving the region's economic situation."
According to the project coordinator, the Central Agropole will mobilize a budget of around 108 billion CFA francs to be invested across the four regions. Kaolack, in terms of infrastructure, plans to absorb approximately 20 billion CFA francs, which will be invested in agro-industrial transformation for the benefit of young people and women.
The prefect of Nioro, Ibrahima Fall, stressed that this project is an ambitious initiative in terms of development, in achieving food sovereignty.
