Marché central de Kaolack : un couturier arrêté pour avoir pillé les ateliers de ses collègues
On Sunday, March 8, 2026, around 10:00 AM, the Kaolack central police station, under the command of Divisional Commissioner Souleymane Ba, was alerted to a burglary at the Kaolack market shopping center. SONATEL security guards had apprehended an individual near the scene, in possession of valuables of suspicious origin.
When asked to explain the origin of the goods, the individual fled, abandoning his loot: two sewing machines and about twenty valuable pieces of fabric. He was quickly apprehended and taken to the police station.
This is AT, 27 years old, a tailor, residing in Kanda.
During questioning, the suspect admitted to stealing the items from a tailor's workshop located inside the market. He was taken into custody for burglary. The owner of the stolen goods, KD, was summoned to the police station for questioning as part of the investigation.
During the investigation, it emerged that AT was already the subject of several complaints for similar offenses. In fact, in December 2025, he allegedly burglarized several sewing workshops in the same shopping center, stealing five (05) sewing machines and about a hundred fabrics of different types.
Faced with these accusations, AT admitted to being the perpetrator of all the acts of which he is accused, specifying that he had resold all the stolen items to traders established in Touba according to Seneweb sources.
Two screwdrivers and a hammer, used as burglary tools, were provisionally seized for the purposes of the investigation.
