Kaolack : Course-poursuite nocturne au pont Noirot, un gang de voleurs de bétail tombe
The urban security unit of the central police station in Kaolack has achieved a decisive victory against cattle theft, arresting three individuals suspected of being members of an organized network operating between Koutal and Keur Madiabel.
The events date back to the night of March 28, 2026. Around 4:00 a.m., officers stationed at the Noirot bridge intercepted a Peugeot vehicle coming from Koutal. A search of the vehicle revealed six tied-up sheep, hidden in the back after folding down the seats.
Upon seeing the police, the driver and his passenger attempted to flee on foot, but were quickly apprehended after a chase. Taken into custody, they confessed to the crime, stating that they had stolen the animals in the town of Keur Madiabel. The owner of the livestock was identified and asked to come to the police station for further processing.
Discovery of a rear base in the bush
Continuing their investigations, the investigators uncovered a rear base for the network, located in the bush on the outskirts of Keur Madiabel. An operation carried out on March 29 at around 8 p.m. in an isolated sheepfold led to the arrest of a third individual, described as a key link in the logistical operation.
On site, police also seized twenty goats of suspicious origin, which were transported to the department for the purposes of the investigation.
The three suspects are currently in police custody and are being prosecuted for conspiracy, nighttime cattle rustling using a vehicle, and receiving stolen goods. The investigation is ongoing to identify any accomplices and determine the true extent of the network.
