Keur Mame Al-Hadji (Thiès) : La famille de Serigne Moustapha Ndiéguène très remontée contre le gouverneur et le préfet de Thiès
The regional governor and the prefect of Thiès have been accused of "lack of anticipation and support" in the organization of the 69th edition of the annual Gamou of Serigne Mouhamadou Moustapha Ndiéguene Boroom Dalling Koor, in Keur Mame Al-Hadji.
“I have no words of gratitude towards the governor and the prefect. Organizing a fixed-term contract three days before Gamou is not serious,” Serigne Mouhamad Ndiéguène, Khalif of Serigne Moustapha, protested during the official ceremony.
The religious leader recalled that the community has often organized the Gamou celebration "without fixed-term contracts," with demonstrable results. He emphasized the responsibility of the authorities regarding hygiene and safety, criticizing their insufficient involvement. "They are the ones who hold these essential levers. The shortcomings are their responsibility; they must readjust," he stressed.
Serigne Sidy Mouhamed Ndiéguène, president of the Gamou organizing committee, also criticized the governor and the prefect. He expressed his disappointment with the lack of support from the central and local administration. "Thanks to our donors, other authorities, and the talibés (students), we didn't feel their absence. The family relies first and foremost on its guides and its own spiritual community."
