Khadim Diouf, étudiant gréviste : « Nos autorités ne comprennent pas la diplomatie »
The situation is stark! For Khadim Diouf, a striking student, the break with university and state authorities is complete. According to him, the current system does not reward the wisdom of "negotiation," but rather seems to encourage chaos in order for demands to finally be heard.
Invited to the "Objection" program this Sunday on Sud FM, the president of the Faculty of Sciences' Academic Commission indicated that for months, student representatives had tried to use diplomacy. Three months of roundtables, memoranda, and discreet exchanges that only led to a stalemate.
“What saddens us is that we have exhausted all avenues of dialogue. What we have noticed is that the authorities do not understand diplomacy. To spend three months negotiating without finding common ground is highly deplorable. What we have noticed is that the authorities do not understand diplomacy,” observes Khadim Diouf, expressing his regret.
At some point, he adds, "we were backed into a corner and we only had one solution: to take to the field to make ourselves heard."
"They waited until things got out of hand before calling us to negotiate. This just means that the authorities only know how to use force and they are the ones forcing the student to use force," he says.
On strike for several months, the students are demanding payment of outstanding scholarships.
