Hôpital Roi Baudouin : 35 millions F CFA détournés, deux arrestations
"The atmosphere is heavy" at the King Baudouin Hospital in Guédiawaye. L'Observateur reveals that a financial scandal involving a "35 million CFA franc shortfall" has just broken out, leading to the arrest of the head cashier, Ms. Seye, and an accounting service provider, Ms. Fall.
The truth was uncovered after an audit
Everything changed with the arrival of a new Head Cashier, Ms. Sy. According to the same source, upon assuming her duties, a thorough financial audit was commissioned from inspectors at the Ministries of Finance and Health. The verdict, delivered just before Korité (Eid al-Fitr), was unequivocal: a shortfall of 35 million was identified in the institution's accounts.
The operating procedure of the "day skip"
The investigation uncovered a rudimentary but effective fraud scheme: "skipping days." The head cashier, aided by the service provider who made bank deposits on her behalf, deliberately failed to deposit the receipts for certain days (consultations, tests, treatments). "From one accumulation to the next, the little trick turned into a financial black hole," reports the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias (GFM).
Investigation in progress
Following a complaint filed by the hospital director with the Keur Massar Criminal Investigation Brigade, as reported by Gfm, the two women were brought before the prosecutor. After several hearings before the prosecutor's office, they are scheduled to appear before the investigating judge this Tuesday, April 7, 2026. The investigation now aims to identify any accomplices, as the magistrate has ordered an inquiry to uncover other potential perpetrators.
