Kolda : 5 Maliens et 1 Sénégalais arrêtés par la police pour vol de bétail et abattage clandestin
The fight against cattle rustling and illegal slaughter has seen a new development in Kolda. On the evening of Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at around 8:30 p.m., members of the Central Police Station's Research Brigade arrested six individuals following a citizen's tip-off.
The alert came from a phone call from BD, a civil engineering student living in the Sinthiang Tountouroug district, who informed the police of the presence of cattle thieves in the area.
Without delay, the police deployed and brought six suspects to the station, including five Malians and one Senegalese. They are:
1. O.Camara, 25 years old, Senegalese, living in Sinthiang Tountouroug;
2. H.Camara, 18 years old, Malian, scrap metal dealer;
3. D.Arahma, 24 years old, Malian, scrap metal dealer;
4. V.Traoré, 18 years old, Malian, scrap metal dealer;
5. Z.Arahma, 18 years old, Malian, scrap metal dealer;
6. Yaya Arahma, 26 years old, Malian, scrap metal dealer.
During their summary interrogation, the accused attempted to deny the facts, but their statements did not convince investigators, according to Seneweb sources. Placed in police custody, they will face charges of theft from an as-yet-unidentified third party and clandestine slaughter.
The Kolda Public Prosecutor's Office has been notified and an investigation is underway to determine the extent of the case and identify possible accomplices.
