To raise awareness among the population about various emerging epidemics, the Regional Epidemic Management Committee (CRGE) held a two-day workshop to establish mechanisms to combat Rift Valley fever and Mpox. This meeting focused on the production of radio and digital resources on these diseases, as well as on the Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI).
The regional health director, Dr. Yaya Baldé, emphasized the importance of this workshop in the regional awareness strategy. "The aim is to equip the region with communication materials adapted to our socio-cultural context in order to reach our target population," stated Dr. Baldé, adding that an inclusive approach, tailored to the specific context, is essential.
He also emphasized the importance of strengthening the One Health approach, a concept that promotes the interconnectedness of human, animal, and environmental health. "If the environment is not protected, humans and animals will not be healthy," explained the health professional, who believes this integrated vision is essential for improving the region's health indicators.
During this meeting, Dr. Yaya Baldé emphasized the role of the media in the various efforts to improve public health. He encouraged local radio stations to broadcast these preventative health messages at all times and in the different languages of the Fouladou region.
