Koungheul : Un incendie dévaste 130 habitations à Touba Thiarène
A violent fire broke out overnight in the village of Touba Thiarène, located in the commune of Lour Escale, within the department of Koungheul. According to initial reports gathered on site, the blaze started in a kitchen before spreading with incredible speed through the houses.
The material damage is particularly extensive: 15 houses were completely destroyed and 115 huts were damaged by the flames. The fire also reduced essential goods and significant agricultural reserves, including hay, millet, and peanuts, to ashes. In addition to the food stocks, an estimated 150,000 CFA francs in cash was lost. Fortunately, no human or animal lives were lost.
The village chief, Modou Sarr, strongly deplored the difficulties encountered by the emergency services, primarily due to the lack of water in the area. The village has no functioning well and is entirely dependent on the Ndiayenne Lour water supply system. This precarious situation considerably slowed the firefighters' work, forcing them to make multiple trips to Ribot and Lour to obtain water in order to control the flames.
