Le Sénégal réaffirme son engagement pour l’égalité des sexes à la tribune des Nations Unies
In New York, on the sidelines of the 80th United Nations General Assembly, the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, took part, on September 22, in the high-level meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the World Conference on Women (Beijing+30).
In his address, the Head of State reiterated Senegal's unwavering commitment to gender equality and the empowerment of women and girls. He also called on the international community to collectively address persistent inequalities.
"Equality is a moral and universal requirement. No society can develop by leaving its women and girls behind. The fight against violence and discrimination is a permanent struggle that involves states, citizens, and leaders," said President Faye.
The Head of State also highlighted Vision Senegal 2050, which places women and young people at the heart of the national project, as pillars of social stability and drivers of sustainable prosperity.
In conclusion, he launched a mobilizing appeal: "Let us prepare future generations to live in a fairer, more egalitarian and more harmonious world."
