Les volontaires du PIPADHS réclament une revalorisation de leur statut

Community volunteers from the Project Invested in the Early Years of Human Development in Senegal (PIPADHS) have spoken out to denounce the worrying situation they are experiencing in the school environment.

During a press conference held in front of the education and training inspectorate (IEF) of Kaolack, these volunteers wearing red armbands demanded better working conditions and recruitment into the civil service.

Alioune Diassé, the Secretary General and Regional Coordinator of PIPADHS Community Volunteers, highlighted the key points of their demands: “It has been six years since we entered the education system through PIPADHS, which was in collaboration with the General Directorate of Early Childhood of Senegal. Furthermore, we want the age range for training to be revised, financial support from the State or mayors, and participation in professional examinations.”

If their demands are not met, the volunteers threaten to strike after the school holidays. This will paralyze half of Senegal's preschools and leave 33,275 children without supervision.
