Licencié : le laveur de véhicules vole la moquette de son ex-patron
In Saly Carrefour, B. Camara, a car washer, is being prosecuted for stealing a carpet worth 80,000 CFA francs belonging to a client of his former shop. He allegedly resold it for 10,000 CFA francs to a local tailor. The theft reportedly occurred in early October, on the very day he was fired by his former boss, AS Diop, for repeated thefts.
According to L'Observateur, which attended the hearing, the stolen carpet was found in the tailor's workshop, who claimed to have bought it from the defendant. Initially, Camara admitted to the theft, explaining that he was overwhelmed by debt and feared eviction. However, in court, he changed his story, stating that he had acted to pay for his wife's childbirth expenses; she had just given birth to a boy.
According to the same source, his former employer is not seeking any compensation. The prosecutor, for his part, has requested the strict application of the law. The verdict is expected on November 27.
