Linguère : Un ingénieur victime d'une escroquerie "mystique" de 78 millions de francs
The Linguère police station has dismantled a suspected charlatanism ring. Alpha Kalidou Samba Sow, a 46-year-old marabout residing in Barkedji, was arrested in his Mazda while facing serious charges of fraud involving 78 million CFA francs.
The case began when the victim, Thierno Mountaga Ndiaye, a civil engineer residing in Saint-Louis, met the accused through Mamadou Poumane, a driver for SAED also living in Barkedji. Seeking prayers of blessing to promote his professional success, the engineer was put in contact with the marabout Sow.
What was supposed to be a simple spiritual guidance session quickly turned into a colossal financial scheme. After administering mystical baths to his client, Alpha Kalidou Samba Sow repeatedly requested money. According to sources close to the case, payments totaling 35 million CFA francs were made via money transfer services, with the remainder being handed over in cash.
The scam having been uncovered, the marabout and his alleged accomplice, Mamadou Poumane, were arrested by officers from the Linguère police station. They were taken into custody and will face charges of fraud and quackery.
