Linguère : Le préfet appelle à une mobilisation contre les violences faites aux femmes et aux filles
Like other localities in the country, the department of Linguère celebrated the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence, around the theme "Let's unite to end digital violence against women and girls. Protecting your personal data means ending digital violence."
Activities began on Friday, December 5th with a departmental forum in Linguère, followed this Saturday by a hike in Dahra, which brought together all the technical services involved in the fight against gender-based violence (GBV).
The Prefect of Linguère, Modou Thiam, who presided over both events, praised the strong participation of department heads, school principals, teachers, students, and technical staff. He particularly commended the Departmental Women's Service, which spared no effort to ensure the success of the activities.
Modou Thiam recalled that violence against women and girls, whether psychological, economic, sexual or digital, constitutes serious violations of human dignity and fundamental rights.
Regarding digital violence and the exposure of young people to the dangers of digital technology, the prefect welcomed the State's decision to ban mobile phones in schools.
The administrative authority announced that the 16 days of activism will now be integrated into the departmental agenda.
