Lutte contre l’orpaillage illégal à Saraya : Un important sanctuaire clandestin démantelé à Séguéko
A large-scale operation against illegal mining was successfully carried out on Saturday, January 24, 2026, in the Saraya department. Between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, the Saraya Territorial Brigade, supported by Rapid Action Surveillance and Intervention Group No. 2 (GARSI 2), raided the bush near the village of Séguéko, in the Bembou commune, to dismantle several clandestine mining sites. This operation is part of the national strategy to eradicate illegal gold mining, a scourge with devastating consequences for the environment, public safety, and the country's economy.
The operation dealt a major blow to the activities of illegal gold miners with the immediate destruction on site of 45 ore-spitting machines used for mining. In addition to this technical neutralization, the defense and security forces seized a significant logistical arsenal consisting of 100 liters of diesel fuel, a motor pump, three jackhammers, four generators, and a welding machine.
Through this show of force, the authorities reaffirm their commitment to enforcing mining regulations and protecting national resources from illegal networks. This vigorous action demonstrates the state's determination to regain full control of mining areas for the benefit of local communities.
