Madina Sabodala et Sabodala plongés dans le noir : les populations grondent
Since Sunday, the villages of Madina Sabodala and Sabodala, located in the Bélédougou region, have been experiencing a total power outage. The cause: the failure of the only 160 kVA transformer, essential equipment for thousands of residents now forced to manage in the dark. This situation is causing exasperation, anxiety, and anger.
As soon as night falls, streets and businesses are plunged into darkness. Economic activity slows to a crawl, households improvise, and security becomes a major concern.
"We can't go on like this. Every time there's a breakdown, nobody informs us, nobody gives us a timeframe. We're tired," says Mamadou Sissoko, a trader in Madina Sabodala, in the flickering light of a hurricane lamp.
The same sentiment was echoed by women, who were particularly affected by the shutdown of mills, food preservation, and domestic lighting.
“Our children can no longer even study in the evening. We pay for electricity, but as soon as there is a problem, we are abandoned,” laments Aïssatou Traoré, a mother.
Young people, too, are expressing their frustration.
“A single transformer for the whole area is no longer acceptable. If it breaks down, everything stops. We feel like our locality has been forgotten,” complains Boubacar Diallo, a student from Sabodala.
Beyond the anger, it is above all the lack of communication and a lasting solution that is worrying. The people are demanding not only swift repairs, but also structural investments to prevent these outages from becoming recurrent.
"We are asking for a second transformer or a reinforcement of the network. Development cannot happen in the dark," insists a notable from the village.
While awaiting intervention from the relevant authorities, Madina Sabodala and Sabodala remain plunged into darkness, with a growing sense of abandonment with each passing hour. The residents are urgently appealing to the authorities and the electricity company for a swift and lasting solution.
