Mairie des Parcelles-Assainies : Une femme en détresse tente de s’immoler par le feu
An unprecedented and shocking scene took place this Thursday, September 18, 2025, at the Parcelles-Assainies town hall. Around 12 p.m., a tormented woman attempted to set herself on fire to end her life.
According to the report made to the district police station by Mr. Manga, head of security at the town hall, the woman is FF, aged 38, living in Unit 5. The first elements of the investigation reveal that the woman had first presented herself to Mr. Faye, the mayor's assistant, to request an audience with Djamil Sané. But the latter reportedly told him that visits were suspended.
Disappointed, FF headed towards the exit, before asking the guards for permission to access the toilets, according to Seneweb sources.
It was at this point that she took out a bottle filled with petrol and poured it over her body. One of the security guards, Mr Guèye, reacted quickly and managed to restrain her, discovering a box of matches on her, ready to be used.
Taken to the Parcelles police station, the woman explained her desperate action by a life marked by hardships: divorced since 2013, abandoned with her children, she would have lost her job as a restaurant manager in 2024, following a legal dispute.
Since then, she has been searching in vain for work, particularly as a cleaning technician, at the town halls of Golf-Sud and Cambérène. The town hall of Parcelles-Assainies represented a last hope for her.
The seized items (oil bottle and box of matches) were confiscated. The woman, who was questioned by the police, is being investigated to determine the circumstances of this suicide attempt.
