Mako : la célébration vire au drame après la victoire des Lions face au Maroc
The popular jubilation following the Lions' victory against Morocco was short-lived in the municipality of Tomboronkoto. In Mako, a locality situated on the RN7 in the municipality of Tomboronkoto, scenes of joy tragically turned to tragedy, claiming the life of a teenager.
Moments after the final whistle signaled the national team's victory, a spontaneous outpouring of joy swept through the streets of several towns in Niokolo. Many residents, riding motorcycles, tricycles, and carts, took to the streets to celebrate the event in a festive atmosphere.
In Mako, this collective euphoria led to a massive rush of people onto the streets, causing chaotic traffic. It was in this context that a serious accident occurred, just after the bridge leading to Niéméniké.
According to testimonies gathered by Seneweb, a boy named Alpha Diallo, approximately fifteen years old, grabbed onto the rearview mirror of a moving tanker truck. The mirror reportedly broke, causing the young teenager to fall and be fatally struck.
Alerted by the tragedy, the shocked local population expressed their outrage. Fearing he would be lynched, the truck driver immediately fled before turning himself in at the local gendarmerie brigade in Mako, where he is currently being held in custody.
An investigation has been launched to determine the exact circumstances of the accident. The driver will soon have to appear before the public prosecutor on charges of manslaughter.
This tragedy reignites the debate on road safety and the regulation of spontaneous demonstrations during major sporting events, particularly in areas with high crowds.
