Matam : Le pont de Oréfondé fermé à la circulation
Submerged by the rising Senegal River, the Oréfondé bridge, which provides access to the villages of Dandé Mayo Nord (river bank), has been impassable for more than 72 hours. Through a public press release, traffic is now temporarily prohibited. On the instructions of the governor of Matam, an order "temporarily prohibiting the crossing of the Oréfondé bridge by vehicle" was issued by the sub-prefect of Agnam for safety measures. Faced with this situation, the local populations of the many villages in this remote area, which are affected by the construction of the Dandé Mayo Nord road, work on which has been at a standstill for more than eight months, are now traveling by canoe during this period of flooding.
