The Mbacké police station arrested a man on February 16, 2026, accused of sexually assaulting an 11-year-old girl. The suspect, a neighbor of the victim, allegedly gave her 100 FCFA to buy her silence.
On February 16, 2026, at around 2 p.m., an 11-year-old girl returned to her family home with a 100 FCFA coin.
When questioned by her mother about the source of the money, the child revealed that she had been approached on her way home from school by a neighbor. He allegedly lured her into a nearby building under construction, where he forced her to lie down after lifting her skirt.
Faced with the girl's cries, the suspect reportedly dressed hastily before handing her the money to buy her silence.
Alerted, the mother immediately took her daughter to the hospital, where medical staff advised her to contact the police. She then filed a complaint at the Mbacké police station.
The Criminal Investigation Unit interviewed the minor, who confirmed her statements. She specified that while the suspect was in the habit of giving her money, he had never before assaulted her. She also provided a crucial detail: the use of a sisal bag spread on the ground during the attack.
Investigators immediately went to the scene, where they apprehended the suspect and seized the sisal bag as evidence. The suspect was taken into custody. A request was sent to Matlaboul Fawzaini Hospital in Touba for a complete gynecological examination of the victim.
