Mbao : Une altercation éclate entre une dame et un vendeur égyptien venu réclamer une dette

On Wednesday, a police intervention in Mbao revealed tensions related to credit sales of household appliances.

A woman named Seynabou went to the Zac Mbao district police station on Wednesday to report an assault. She claims she was attacked at her home by an individual she describes as a stranger.

Following this statement, police officers went to the scene and arrested MAA Khadre, an Egyptian national. When questioned, he explained that he had come to claim the outstanding balance on a fan purchased on credit. The device, valued at 30,000 FCFA, had not been fully paid for, leaving a debt of 10,000 FCFA, according to Seneweb sources.

According to Seynabou's account, unable to pay immediately, she asked the creditor to come back later. It was then that the situation allegedly escalated, with the seller assaulting her and provoking an altercation between the two.

The Egyptian national disputes this version of events and maintains instead that he himself was the victim of an attack by the woman.

Examination of the two protagonists reveals minor injuries on both sides: MAA Khadre has a scratch on her right hand, while Seynabou has redness in her left eye.

Notably, neither party wished to file a complaint. This refusal is part of a specific local context, marked by the recent arrest of two other Egyptian nationals, creating a sensitive atmosphere surrounding these cases.

Faced with this situation, the investigators decided to treat the case as a judicial inquiry, unless otherwise instructed by the prosecutor's office.

Police have warned of a recurring practice by some Egyptian nationals. These individuals reportedly sell household appliances on credit and then take matters into their own hands if the customer fails to pay.
