Mbar : Un opérateur économique arrêté par la gendarmerie avec 2,4 millions en faux billets

The accused is a businessman who frequents weekly markets to buy sesame and peanuts. On February 2, 2026, he went to the Mbar weekly market with 2,400,000 CFA francs in counterfeit bills.
To launder them, he went to a money transfer point to deposit one million CFA francs. The manager of the transfer point, having noticed that the bills were counterfeit, alerted the gendarmes patrolling the area.
The suspect was found at the Mbar livestock market and arrested. After a thorough search, he was found to be in possession of 1,400,000 CFA francs in counterfeit banknotes.
