Mbour : 60 chèvres volées, le duo au « maïs-somnifère » fixé sur son sort aujourd’hui
The Mbour High Court is expected to deliver its verdict this Tuesday, December 30, in the case between shepherd A. Sow and drivers B. Faye and Ch. T. Guèye. The two defendants are accused of stealing goats in Diass at the beginning of December. Attacked by an angry mob after their arrest, they owed their safety only to the swift intervention of the gendarmerie, reports L'Observateur.
According to the prosecution, the two men were allegedly caught behind the Diass high school while loading two animals into their vehicle. Their attempted escape ended prematurely when their car struck a rock, allowing villagers to apprehend them before the arrival of law enforcement.
In court, according to the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias, the statements diverged. While B. Faye admitted to stealing a goat and implicated his partner, Ch. T. Guèye denied any involvement. He claimed they had simply gone to the location to drop off a woman at a family ceremony.
The plaintiff maintains, however, that this was not an isolated incident. According to the shepherd, the two drivers had already stolen a total of 60 goats from him over several trips, using a peculiar method of "giving the animals corn mixed with pills to neutralize them." He is claiming 3 million CFA francs in damages.
The prosecutor requested the strict application of the law. The case, which has been adjourned for deliberation, will be decided today.
