Mbour : 840 kg de chanvre indien saisis par la BR de Saly et 7 trafiquants arrêtés en 72 heures
As part of the fight against drug trafficking, the Saly Research Brigade, under the Mbour gendarmerie company, carried out two major raids between March 15 and 17, 2026, resulting in the seizure of 840 kilograms of Indian hemp and the arrest of seven individuals, Seneweb learned from Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye.
It all began on March 15th, when a tip-off allowed the gendarmerie to intercept a shipment of 510 kilograms of cannabis coming from Casamance. The owner of the merchandise and the pirogue operator responsible for its transport were arrested. During questioning, both men admitted to operating within a structured and organized network.
Armed with this intelligence, the BR continued its investigation. On Tuesday, March 17, its officers on patrol in Nguékokh located a house used as a hideout by the network. The operation resulted in the seizure of an additional 330 kilograms of drugs, as well as two vehicles, and the arrest of five individuals caught in the act. These individuals are being prosecuted for conspiracy and trafficking in cannabis.
In total, a large-scale trafficking network has just been dismantled in less than 72 hours.
The investigation is ongoing.
