Mbour : La foudre tue un pêcheur
A tragedy struck the town of Mbour on Monday evening. Ngagne, a fisherman in his forties, lost his life after being struck by lightning. The incident occurred around 7 p.m., as a violent storm hit the coast.
After landing the day's catch with his crew, Ngagne returned to sea alone to moor his canoe. Unfortunately, a lightning strike struck near the boat. The electric shock violently threw him into the ocean. One of his companions, who witnessed the scene from the beach, immediately raised the alarm. The firefighters were then mobilized to launch a search. It was only late that night that the fisherman's body was found and taken to the hospital for an autopsy.
The deceased leaves behind a widow and several children. The tragedy plunged his relatives and the fishing community of Mbour into dismay.
