Mbour : le boucher trahi par les cris de son butin
In Mbour, Mr. Diouf, a butcher by trade, was sentenced to three months in prison for cattle theft and illegal slaughter. On the night of December 31st, he stole 12 goats belonging to the shepherd Mr. Sow before slaughtering them at his home to fulfill New Year's orders.
The case came to light when the owner, noticing his animals were missing, began searching for them, reports L'Observateur, which attended the hearing. The newspaper notes that a police patrol, alerted by bleating coming from a house, discovered the accused in the act of butchering several goats, six of which had already been slaughtered.
At the hearing, the newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias (GFM) reports, the defendant claimed to have bought the animals at the weekly market in Nguéniène, stating a price that contradicted his initial statements. His explanations were undermined by his admission: he had muzzled one of the goats to avoid attracting attention.
Found guilty, he was sentenced in accordance with the prosecution's recommendations. The plaintiff, who was absent from the hearing, may seek compensation at a later date, Gfm reports.
