Médina Wababé (Koumpentoum) : un nourrisson de 10 jours meurt calciné dans un incendie
Shock and dismay gripped the village of Medina Wababé, located in the commune of Kouthia Gaydi, department of Koumpentoum, this weekend. This small hamlet in the agro-pastoral zone was the scene of a horrific tragedy when a fire broke out in a compound, claiming the life of a ten-day-old baby boy.
Alerted by the intensity of the flames, the gendarmerie from Koumpentoum quickly arrived at the scene, accompanied by firefighters. Despite the emergency response, the toll was heavy. The lifeless body of the newborn was found under the rubble of the completely charred house. The fire also caused significant material damage, as the compound was primarily constructed of straw, a highly flammable material.
Although the exact cause of the fire has yet to be officially determined, initial findings suggest it started in the mother's bedroom, where a stove was located. An investigation has been launched by the relevant authorities to fully understand the causes of this tragedy, which has plunged the residents of Medina Wababé into deep mourning.
