Un mineur victime d'overdose : 3 trafiquants dont une vendeuse en pharmacie et un étudiant arrêtés par la police de Dieuppeul
The hospitalization of a 17-year-old teenager for an overdose triggered an investigation that enabled police officers from the Dieuppeul district police station to dismantle a drug and psychotropic medication trafficking network operating in the Liberté 6 and Sacré-Cœur neighborhoods.
A desperate mother at the origin of the investigation
A distressed mother, Mrs. NS Diouf, spontaneously presented herself at the Dieuppeul district police station. Welcomed and reassured by the head of department, she confided that her son, a 17-year-old student, had been hospitalized following an overdose caused by the massive consumption of hashish and medication containing psychotropic substances, according to Seneweb sources.
Hashish dealer arrested
Following this statement, investigators used the hospitalized minor's cell phone. This investigation allowed Commissioner Youssoupha Thioub's men to formally identify the hashish trafficker.
Investigations revealed that the suspect, 19-year-old B. Dramé, operated his illicit business in the Liberté 6 and Sacré-Cœur areas. He used his motorcycle to get around, posing as a "thiak-thiak" (motorcycle taxi) driver to disguise his trafficking.
Successful sting operation
To apprehend him, an undercover agent placed an order for 15,000 CFA francs while posing as a customer. Unaware of the trap, B. Dramé went to the JVC roundabout, the location of the scheduled meeting.
During his arrest, the police discovered in his possession:
- An iPhone cell phone
- A Lacoste brand bag containing 15,000 FCFA (three 5,000 FCFA notes)
- A pack of hashish
When questioned, the suspect admitted to being a trafficker but refused to reveal the identity of his supplier. Analysis of his cell phone revealed several electronic transactions on his Wave and Orange Money accounts, suggesting the existence of a well-organized network.
B. Dramé was brought before the Dakar High Court last Thursday for possession and trafficking of hashish, according to Seneweb sources close to the prosecution.
Dismantling of the psychotropic drug network
The exploitation of the hospitalized minor's phone also led to the arrest of the person who had supplied him with the psychotropic medication. This was A. Cissé, a 26-year-old student in a first-year degree in Transport Logistics, responsible for selling these pills to young people in the Liberté 6 and Sacré-Cœur neighborhoods.
Involvement of a pharmacy saleswoman
When questioned about the origin of his merchandise, the student admitted to buying it without a prescription from F. Dieng, an employee at a local pharmacy.
When questioned, the pharmacy saleswoman admitted the facts, specifying that this schedule 2 drug should only be sold after presentation of a medical prescription.
Placed in police custody for the misuse of psychotropic substances, trafficking in psychotropic substances, and diversion of psychotropic substances, student A. Cissé and pharmacy saleswoman F. Dieng were due to appear in court this Monday. The victim remains in hospital.
