Me Babacar Ndiaye, DG de la SNR, réagit à la situation à l’université
The Director General of the National Debt Recovery Company (SNR), Mr. Babacar Ndiaye, spoke about the current situation at Cheikh Anta Diop University in Dakar, which is marked by tensions.
According to Mr. Babacar Ndiaye, the sector is now suffering the consequences of the mismanagement and amateurism of former political leaders who, after having mismanaged the country, are now seeking to stir up tensions to regain political legitimacy.
Mr. Ndiaye also believes that the calls for Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko's resignation are absurd and part of a political agenda driven by a circle of incompetent politicians. He points out that, for the year 2025 alone, the government allocated 105 billion CFA francs to scholarship payments, a level he considers higher than that of several countries in the sub-region, including Côte d'Ivoire.
For the Director General of the SNR, the real challenge lies in implementing bold and sustainable structural reforms to guarantee quality higher education. He believes the current model must be fundamentally revised to ensure its viability.
Without a paradigm shift, he warns, university crises are likely to persist. Among the reform proposals mentioned are more rigorous selection processes for university entrance and a scholarship allocation system based more on merit.
