Ndiaganiao : Un mari ivre menace de tuer son épouse avec un coupe-coupe
A tragedy was narrowly averted in Koulock Wolof, a village in the commune of Ndiaganiao. A woman named Mame Yacine Ngom (25 years old), who was sleeping at her parents' house, was nearly killed by her husband, Samba Faye (34 years old), with a machete. Had it not been for the quick intervention of the woman's brother, the worst would have happened.
The events took place on the night of Tuesday, October 28, around 1 a.m. The husband, Samba Faye, left his neighborhood of Mbode Escale, in the commune of Ndiaganiao, on a motorcycle taxi, to go to the village of Koulock Wolof, to visit his in-laws. Armed with a machete, he intended to severely beat his wife, who had reportedly left the marital home with their two children to seek refuge with her parents.
Drunk as a skunk, he smashed through the gate of the house before heading towards the bedroom where his wife was sleeping. Awakened by the noise, Modou Ngom, the woman's older brother, saw Samba Faye with his gun. He ordered him to stop and put it down. When Samba refused, an altercation ensued, waking the entire household.
Pursued, Samba Faye abandoned his phone, shoes, machete, and motorcycle. The next day, his wife filed a complaint against him.
When questioned, the accused categorically denied the accusations and maintained that he had only struck his wife once. He was brought before the prosecutor in Mbour on charges of making death threats, illegal possession of a bladed weapon, and destruction of property belonging to others.
