Affaire Ndingler : La Sedima restitue 80 ha, Amnesty réagit
Babacar Ngom, the founding president of Sedima, announced the return of 80 hectares of land in Mbour to the Senegalese state, without compensation. This gesture was presented as a "civic" one, intended to ease social tensions surrounding the Ndingler land dispute.
Seydi Gassama, executive director of Amnesty Senegal, welcomed the decision while paying tribute to the residents of Ndingler for their "heroic fight against injustice." He also emphasized the unwavering support of the current authorities, President Bassirou Diomaye Faye and Prime Minister Ousmane Sonko.
Amnesty is now urging the State to return these lands to the rightful owners, in order to definitively close this case which has become emblematic of land conflicts in Senegal.
