Ndogou du Palais : Déçue, les révélations de la députée Awa Sy sur leurs échanges avec le Pr. Diomaye
The President of the Republic invited Pastef MPs to a "ndogou" (a traditional meal) at the Presidential Palace yesterday, Friday. Several parliamentarians accepted the invitation, while others declined.
MP Awa Sy was among those who took part in this meeting. She gave a detailed account of the reasons for her presence at this "ndogou" (a traditional meal) and of her discussions with the Head of State, Bassirou Diomaye Faye.

“Yesterday, I honored the invitation of the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye. At first, to be honest, I had decided to decline. I received many calls and messages: some told me not to go, others advised me to go. After careful consideration, I finally decided to go,” she explains.
Awa Sy says she accepted the invitation because she was concerned by the situation she perceived between Ousmane Sonko and Diomaye. “I listened to Sonko’s side of the story and I also wanted to hear Diomaye’s. But in reality, I’m very disappointed. Despite their still-standing relationship, politically speaking, I see that Diomaye wants to put his coalition above Pastef, forgetting that he has shared the struggle with the patriots since 2014. Why give so much importance to a coalition that emerged in 2024, when the struggle began much earlier?” she asks.
The MP recounts that the parliamentarians spoke frankly: "We fought to elect him because of Sonko. If Sonko had abandoned the fight, he would not be President of the Republic today. We therefore want, in return, his recognition, in particular through clear support for Sonko's candidacy in 2029," insists the Pastef MP.
According to her, all the MPs present gave the same speech. They asked President Diomaye to dissolve the coalition and return to his original party.
“He told us that their disagreement dated back to July. He explained that he was not at the terra-meeting because he was sick. Regarding Martyrs’ Day, he specified that the date had been chosen then postponed, and that the new date coincided with a trip abroad,” reports Awa Sy.
The MP added: “Regarding Aminata Touré’s coalition, he stated that some members of Pastef approached her for help and that she did help them. He also maintains that he had been monitoring Aïda Mbodj for three months to restructure the Diomaye Président coalition, but that she did not respond, therefore declining. He also clarified that Mimi is not the president, but the supervisor.”
Awa Sy indicates that the President stands by his decision not to dissolve the coalition, recalling that at the time of its creation, Pastef was dissolved.
“We asked him about his candidacy in 2029. He asked us not to give him the impression that we are against him, when he is not even two years into his term. We listened, but to be honest, his answers did not reassure us,” she confided.
The MP stated that she held no hope after these discussions. According to her, the president has gone his own way. "He's trying to win over our party to bring it into the coalition, but it's impossible. Personally, he can't convince me. I support Sonko's candidacy in 2029," she clarified.
Before concluding, she expressed her disappointment with the President's attitude: "If it weren't for Sonko's agreement, I wouldn't have gone. El Malick was also present and reminded him that Pastef doesn't need a coalition. I fully stand by that: I am PRO Sonko, and I will remain so."
