Ngor : Un homme arrêté par la gendarmerie. Il transvasait frauduleusement du gaz
A 36-year-old man was arrested on Monday, February 16, 2026, by the Ngor local police station for fraud and endangering the lives of others, Seneweb learned from Colonel Ibrahima Ndiaye, head of the National Gendarmerie's Communication and Public Relations Division. The man was illegally transferring gas from one cylinder to another for profit.
The arrest followed a tip-off about an individual in Ngor who was illegally transferring gas into cylinders for profit. This information allowed the gendarmerie to organize a targeted operation in the area.
On site, the police searched the vehicle in which the suspect was transporting 12 kg gas cylinders.
The search resulted in the seizure of plastic pipes and tightening wrenches, equipment used to transfer gas.
When questioned, the man readily admitted that he was transferring gas into empty cylinders for resale. He stated that he was acting on behalf of his employer, whose identity has not yet been established.
The investigation continues to identify the mastermind behind this fraudulent activity and determine the extent of the network. The suspect has been taken into custody for questioning.
The National Gendarmerie urges the public to be more vigilant regarding these types of dangerous practices. Gas transfers present major risks of explosion and constitute a threat to public safety.
