Good news for the educational community of Plan Jaxaay High School. Faced with the dilapidated buildings and recurring flooding that hamper the smooth running of classes each year, the Ministry of National Education, through the School Construction Directorate (DCS), has announced a temporary relocation plan for Plan Jaxaay High School, putting an end to a long period of uncertainty for students, parents, and teachers.

As part of the preparation for the 2025/2026 school year, the authorities have decided to temporarily relocate students to two secure sites, namely the Scientific and Technological Block (BST) of Keur Massar and the CEM of Parcelles Assainies of unit 20.

Improvements and equipment are being made to ensure an optimal, secure and functional learning environment.

This plan was developed in consultation with all the parties concerned, including students, teachers, parents, the school administration, the municipality and the departmental authorities, thus ensuring the support and involvement of all.

Furthermore, structural solutions are being studied to address the problem in a sustainable way.

These include the rehabilitation of school buildings and the improvement of the drainage system in collaboration with the Directorate for Flood Prevention and Management (DPGI) and the Municipal Development Agency (ADM) as part of the PROGEP 2 project.

This rehousing plan provides relief to students and teachers by ensuring educational continuity in decent conditions while awaiting a definitive solution.

This initiative demonstrates the commitment of education authorities to providing a safe and conducive school environment for learning despite the challenges associated with climate hazards.

As a reminder, the Jaxaay high school located in the department of Keur Massar is in an unsanitary state marked by stagnant water and wild grass.
