«On l’a fait quatre fois, mais...» : la curieuse histoire d'amour entre le maître d'arts martiaux et son élève mineure
Y. Traoré (34 years old), a martial arts master, appeared this Tuesday before the Criminal Court of Dakar. He is being prosecuted for rape, pedophilia and abduction of a minor against his student, M. Ndiaye Diop, who was 16 years old at the time of the events that occurred in 2023 in Khar-Yalla.
According to the account in L'Observateur, which attended the hearing, it was the girl's father who uncovered the truth. Intrigued by a cell phone he hadn't bought for his daughter, he discovered explicit love messages on it. Pressed with questions, the teenager eventually confessed that she was having an intimate relationship with her martial arts instructor and that they had had several sexual encounters in the room of a friend of the accused.
In pre-trial detention since January 2024, the accused, as reported by the daily newspaper of the Groupe Futurs Médias (GFM), maintained his defense: a consensual romantic relationship. "I never forced her," he declared, claiming that the young woman even wanted him to marry her.
For her part, the victim gave a nuanced account: quoted by the same source, she claims she was forced during the first encounter, while admitting she gave herself willingly the following three times. She clarified: "We did it four times, but I admit he didn't force me, unlike the first time. Regarding my age, I never told him I was of legal age."
Despite the doubt surrounding the rape accusation, the prosecutor nevertheless determined that the offenses of pedophilia and abduction of a minor were established, as the victim was a minor at the time of the alleged events. He requested a guilty verdict on both counts. The defense argued for acquittal on the rape charge, citing a "solid romantic relationship." The victim's father is seeking 3 million FCFA in damages.
The court will deliver its verdict on March 24, 2026, concludes the GFM headline.
