L’ONAS et l’AAAS sur la route de la transformation de l’assainissement autonome

"This training is the first stone of a much larger project: the modernization of on-site sanitation in Senegal. Our sector is changing, and AAAS is at the heart of this change. This ambition would be nothing without a trusted partner. I would like to warmly thank ONAS and its Director General." These words from the President of the Association of Sanitation Actors of Senegal (AAAS) set the challenges of the training workshop, whose theme is: "Guaranteeing Excellence and Safety in On-Site Sanitation Services."

This training, organized for hydro-cleaning truck drivers, was supported by ONAS, which received funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

ONAS Director General, Mr. Séni DIÈNE, established the cause-and-effect relationship between employee productivity and their health. The health of workers is the keystone of the performance of institutions, businesses, and others. "ONAS does not separate the quest for performance from preserving the health of stakeholders. Hence the coupling of the launch of training with the delivery of PPE. The health of workers must be the constant concern throughout the entire chain. The demand for performance and the quest for modernization must go hand in hand with compliance with safety standards. We invite everyone to ensure this," declared Séni DIENE.

Modernization of the sector, compliance with safety standards and training of truck drivers are all part of the ongoing transformation in this area.

"The sanitation sector is in a phase of change, even transformation, with the introduction of new technologies in almost every sector. Consequently, it is urgent that ONAS, through its Independent Sanitation Promotion Unit, provide its assistance in training the association's stakeholders on all aspects that can contribute to making sanitation a commercial sector," stressed the Director General of ONAS.

His speech echoes the words of the Association's President, who stated: "Today is not just a training session. It is the beginning of a profound transformation. We are launching a program for 100 of our drivers, to guarantee excellence and safety in our services."
