The National Police conducted a large-scale security operation in Dakar on the night of Tuesday, October 21 to Wednesday, October 22, 2025, coordinated by the Dakar Central Police Station under the command of Divisional Commissioner Mamadou Tendeng. It took place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. and mobilized significant human and material resources. The various police units pooled their efforts to intensify checks, prevent crime, and arrest suspicious individuals in several neighborhoods of Dakar.

The results of this police raid are significant: 196 people were arrested for various offenses. The breakdown of the report is as follows: 103 individuals for identity verification, 35 for public drunkenness, one for possession of Indian hemp for personal use (two cones), five for possession and collective use of Indian hemp (four joints and two cones), six for criminal conspiracy, supply and transfer of drugs (six ecstasy tablets and six cones of Indian hemp), three for possession and trafficking of Indian hemp (six cones), 18 for necessity of investigation, two for criminal conspiracy and group theft, one for theft to the detriment of his employer, three for criminal conspiracy and possession of bladed weapons, seven for possession and use of cellulose products, six for assault and battery, two for possession of products of dubious origin, two for attempted circulation of counterfeit notes and theft of cash, one for unnatural acts against a disabled person, one for soliciting.

In addition to these arrests, 166 items were seized for various traffic violations. This measure aims to combat dangerous behavior and improve safety on public roads.

This shock operation is part of a comprehensive security effort in the Dakar region. It reflects the authorities' desire to reassure citizens, prevent criminal acts, and maintain a climate of calm in the capital's various neighborhoods.
