« Où est ton fou de mari… ? » : une plaisanterie tourne au drame, un maçon tué à coups de sabre
By bursting into B. Diène's marital bedroom to heckle his wife, A. Bâ, described as a joker, made a fatal mistake. He was hacked to death by B. Diène, a 41-year-old resident of Guédiawaye who was visiting his wife, who is staying with her parents in Yeumbeul-Nord.
On the evening of the tragedy, on the night of October 26-27, in the Hal Poular district, reports L'Observateur, the 32-year-old mason, faithful to his habit of joking, burst into the marital bedroom of B. Diène and his wife, calling out to the latter with these words: "Where is your crazy husband...?"
Feeling insulted, B. Diène flew into a rage. "I don't allow you to call me crazy..." he reportedly replied, according to the same source.
The argument began in the bedroom and continued in the street, where the two men came to blows before being separated by passersby. Fearing another confrontation, B. Diène returned to his in-laws' home to look for a saber, which he hid before leaving for Guédiawaye around 1 a.m.
He then encountered A. Bâ in the street, and hostilities resumed. According to the newspaper, the husband admitted to striking the mason three times with a saber, claiming that the latter was holding a knife. The blows hit the wrist (to disarm him, according to him), the head, and the stomach, with the blow to the head splitting the victim's skull open, the daily newspaper of the Future Media Group (Gfm) stated.
The Observer adds that the victim was found lying in a pool of blood. Transported by firefighters to Dalal Jamm Hospital in Guédiawaye, A. Bâ succumbed to his injuries on Monday morning.
B. Diène surrendered himself to the Wakhinane-Nimzatt police after the incident and was taken into custody at the Yeumbeul-Nord district police station, which has jurisdiction over the case, concludes the Gfm headline.
